One of my all time favorite salads is from Fat Cat Pie Co. over in Norwalk, CT. When we go out and find something yummy, Scott likes to say, “I bet we can make this at home.” Now, most of the time I am sure he could make something very similar. However, I always say something to the like of, “No, because then it wont be special when we have it here.” Right?! Continue reading

Straw Watercolors
I saw this watercolor painting on the wonderful blog Grow Creative and thought it would be fun to adapt and try out with the kids. Continue reading
Broccoli & Potato Leek Soup
Yesterday was dark, cold, and really wet. It was a soup day. Here is what I came up with. Continue reading
Memory Jar
With two crazy toddlers on the lose, we are always saying “We have to write that down.” Arthur and George are constantly coming up with hysterical phrases, answers to questions, statements, and actions. Continue reading
Chocolate Dunked Rice Crispy Treats
I am big on dunking things in chocolate. For years, my sister has been making me this AMAZING ginger bunt cake for my birthday. It has a wonderful rich chocolate glaze over the top. We always have extra chocolate left over, so we would dig through the pantry and counter top to cover everything from pretzels, to bananas, to graham crackers, and chips. I have not grown out of this love. So, recently I have been craving a new snack…and these felt like a great idea. And, I made them with brown rice crispies….so they are healthy right?! Celery Flowers
At the moment my boys love using stamps. When teaching 1st grade Science I used to do a couple of ‘seed’ labs with the kids and one of them involved stamping cut fruits and veggies to later find the seeds. This too, on its own, is a beautiful art project. Continue reading
Quick Gluten-free Brownies
I really wish these brownies were harder to make. I saw them here on Gluten-free Girl and the Chef and knew I had to try them out. They are amazing. Nice and chewy on the inside and they have an awesome crackly top. Continue reading
Bird Seed Ornaments
So, for a while now I have been wanting to make bird seed ornaments with the boys. I had seen a few ‘recipes’ on how to do so- many very different from each other. Some had flour, some didn’t. Some required baking, some didn’t. So, I thought I would try to morph a few of the technique. Continue reading
Shrimp Curry
I love curry. Like, really love curry. When we went to Thailand six and a half years ago, I ate so much curry it was laughable. There may have even been an incident where I used my fingers to clean out a curry pot. So when I found a shrimp curry recipe in American Masala, I was eager to try it out. It was amazing. Since then, I have changed it around a whole bunch, but the original concept and base came from it. This recipe is super easy Continue reading
Old-time Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies
Those who know me, know that I used to make a mean chocolate chip cookie. I love a great chocolate chip cookie. So again, when setting out on this new journey of having to be gluten-free, I longed for those familiar foods- like my chocolate chip cookies, like my banana muffins. Continue reading
